NMSU Purchasing, in partnership with ICT, has developed a computer workstation and notebook purchasing program that has identified cost-effective purchase options to support the majority of campus computing needs. Dell and HP computer orders are placed on Mondays, except during holidays. Any cancellations will be accepted up until 2 business days prior to order day. Typical turnaround time is approximately three to four calendar weeks from order to delivery.

Why buy a PC through ICT?

NMSU ICT acts as a value-adding reseller by removing Windows and associated software from PCs and reinstalling campus-licensed Enterprise versions of Microsoft Windows and Office in addition to useful and necessary third-party software. Along with installation services and new PC prep, ICT acts as the in-house warranty service center for PCs purchased through this program. ICT Technology Support has partnered with Dell and Hewlett-Packard to handle warranty-related hardware issues in-house, drastically reducing turnaround time when hardware failures occur. All PCs purchased through the NMSU Hardware Purchasing Program include 3-year hardware warranties, and accidental damage coverage.
Please Note: The prices as shown include costs associated with purchasing and receiving, recording and network registration, software installation, system preparation, and delivery is free. On-site equipment setup, transfer of data from old PCs and custom software installations will require a Work Order with ICT Technology Support Center and will incur additional costs.

What will be installed on my new PC?

NMSU ICT Hardware Purchasing Program now features PCs equipped with Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise Edition, and all PCs offered here meet or exceed Microsoft’s recommendations for Windows 10. PCs will also be registered on NMSU internal network, both wired and wireless (as applicable).

In addition to the installation of campus-licensed Windows 10 Enterprise Edition (Due to changes in technology provided by Dell and Hewlett-Packard, Windows 7, 8 & 8.1 will no longer be available as an option for installation on any of the systems on this site), PCs purchased through the NMSU Hardware Purchasing Program will have the following software preinstalled:

  • Microsoft Office 2016 Professional-Plus (NMSU Campus license)
  • Sophos Antivirus
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Google Chrome
  • Oracle Java Client Version. 8
  • Adobe Flash player for all web browsers
